CORONAVIRUS, a situation of special risk for people with Alzheimer’s disease
We know with total certainty that Coronavirus (COVID-19) affects more severely the elderly and especially if they suffer from previous pathologies. This makes it necessary for us to pay special attention to people affected by Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias, since their situation makes them especially vulnerable and at risk of infection.
If we want to protect people with Alzheimer’s, therefore, we must strongly recommend that they follow the prevention measures indicated by the health authorities at all times, especially with regard to avoiding leaving the house except in extreme cases, maintaining physical distance from other people, avoiding contact with groups of people and washing their hands often.
